If you could be someone else for a day, who would you be, and why?
If I could be someone else for a day, I would choose my grandmother (my dear Mémère).
She carries a kind of wisdom, patience, and quiet contentment that only time and a life well-lived can teach. I look up to her so much. Through her eyes, the world feels gentler and more grateful—she notices the small blessings, savors simple moments, and meets every day with grace.
I try every day to emulate her: in my faith, in the way I show kindness, and especially in how I parent my own children, drawing from the timeless advice she’s shared with me. The Silent Generation, people like her, truly deserve our admiration. They built lives rooted in resilience, humility, and deep gratitude, without chasing the spotlight. Spending a day in her shoes would be the greatest lesson—not just in what she knows, but in how peacefully she lives it. I will be her someday.
What about you? Who would you choose for a day, and what would you hope to learn?
Here’s a post I wrote for my mémère a while back with more reason why we should appreciate our elders. Please check it out 😁
