You know that powdery, chemical-y film on your fruits and veg? Yeah, I can’t stand it either. Here’s my easy sink routine that gets rid of it without ruining the produce.
What I use:
• Lukewarm water + white vinegar in a 3:1 ratio (3 parts water to 1 part vinegar).
Just pour it straight into the sink—no fancy equipment or products needed!
The quick steps:
-Fill the sink with the vinegar solution.
-Swish everything around gently for a minute or two. (For grapes, I give them a solid 2–3 minutes because they’re sneaky with that residue.)
-Rinse really well under cool running water.
*If they’re extra grimy, repeat once more.*
A little love note for softies:
Delicate berries (and peaches if you’re including them) don’t like long acid soaks—they can get mushy. I only let them chill in the solution for about 1 minute max, then rinse immediately.
Pro tip for longer-lasting freshness:
Let everything air-dry on a clean towel or pat gently with paper towels before storing in airtight containers. It makes such a difference—way less spoilage!
That’s it! Fresh, clean produce without the weird aftertaste or damage. Who’s trying this with me this week? 💚
